Mary Lou Bytof/Staff Reporter

After more than six months of discussion and hearing comments from the public, the Northern York County School Board Tuesday evening voted to approve two gender-related policies across the district. New director appointed, monthly sponsors sought

Dillsburg Senior Activity Center, 1 North 2nd St., has been providing food and activities for Dillsburg residents 60 and over for the past 50 plus years. Newly appointed director Heather Oyler is one of three employees who oversee the center's operations. Oyler said she tends to all the financials that go on behind the scenes, in addition to overseeing the daily activities. Two other employees handle programming and food management; soon another worker will be employed as kitchen staff. Volunteers compose the largest portion of the center's manpower. There are two types of volunteers: five who help with serving food and 20 drivers who deliver food.

The Northern Football team takes the field on Friday against Spring Grove.

Polar Bears to host Mifflin County Huskies

Joe Guty/Dillsburg Banner

After a tough 31-14 opening season loss to the Spring Grove H.S. Rockets last week, the Northern H.S. varsity football team will host Mifflin County H.S. this Friday night, Aug. 29, 7 p.m. at Bostic Field. The home (and Keystone Division) opener and familiar turf of Bostic Field, along with a supportive home crowd, could be the difference for the Polar Bears. Against the host Rockets, a few miscues and turnovers led to the defeat despite some bright spots in a game where both teams were seeking the right formula for success.
